Xiao Fuding

Xiao Fuding (小福鼎, Xiǎo Fúdǐng) is not a widely recognized commercial tea variety but rather a local tea cultivar found in several regions of China.

The name 小福鼎 (Xiǎo Fúdǐng) translates as “Little Fuding.”

It is most commonly used to produce green tea, although in some regions it is also processed into white and black tea (known as red tea in China).

It is believed to be a local form or descendant of the famous Fuding Da Bai (福鼎大白茶) cultivar, distinguished by its smaller buds and leaves.

Characteristics of Xiao Fuding Green Tea:

Small, tender buds;
Bright green dry leaves;
Clear, pale yellow-green liquor;
Naturally sweet flavor with virtually no bitterness;
Floral aroma with notes of orchid and fresh herbs.

Thanks to its high amino acid content, the tea develops a smooth, mellow liquor with a pronounced umami character.

According to Chinese tea producers, Xiao Fuding is especially valued for:

Early spring growth;
High amino acid content;
Excellent ability to retain natural sweetness after processing;
Its suitability for producing premium-quality green tea.
